There are times in the year when we are lazy and without energy. Maybe because of the weather, maybe because of tiredness, maybe because of personal circumstances and stress but we simply feel low. We stay at home whole day in our pyjamas. We don’t care what we eat, we forget our normal routine, we even don’t pay attention to how we look. And yes, I am going to say it – we don’t even bother to shower. Seeing the worst version of yourself in the mirror is not motivating at all!
It is easy to go get used to or get lost in that state and one day turns into whole weekend, and then even a week or more if you work from home.
I would like to share few tips that came into my mind on how to boost yourself with energy and simply feel better. I tested them on my skin and they work. All you have to do is to find tiny bit of energy to do them. And don’t try one or two, do all of them!
Also please remember there is nothing bad with feeling bad from time to time. Negative emotions like lack of energy, sadness, tiredness are human emotions, same as happiness, joy, love and it is ok to feel both. My good friend once told me: you can’t be high on energy and happy all the time as you would numb yourself to those emotions. When your level of happiness is the same 100% of the time, you get used to it and you loose ability to enjoy moments of happiness when they come. Life is a constant circle of good moments and bad moments. It is ok to feel low because it will allow you firstly to recognize and then appreciate the happiness. You just have to make sure that experiencing the negative does not last forever. We can use it as ‘me time’ or ‘quiet time’– to charge ourselves, to read, to mediate, to connect with our souls and be ready for the positive that is just round the corner.
Make yourself pretty
What is the point of this? We are not trying to look good for someone. We want to look good for ourselves. You may be feeling not this great on the inside, but when you are amazing on the outside, soon that feeling spreads on the inside too. Let’s start with the shower. Let’s actually do the whole beauty regime – all those exfoliators, beautifully smelling shampoos and lotions, foot scrubs, natural face masks. Everything to make our skin look healthy, soft and glowing. Our hair soft and fresh and smelling like a meadow.
I am not sure if men pay the same level of attention to their skin being soft and glowing, if they care about exfoliating and moisturising, but I am sure that things like clean, fresh skin and hair and trimmed beard will make them feel good too.
Comfy clothes
We are at home and we wear whatever is comfortable. But instead of wearing
Good food
I know it is soooo easy to eat takeaways, junk food, or packaged food from microwave but please don’t. Cook! You can cook comfort food but it will be prepared from scratch. By you. With love. Drink nice cleansing tea, prepare a smoothie from fresh fruits and vegetables, cook something simple but tasty. Make an effort so it looks nice too. Make sure there are some vegetables. You can eat pizza and a salad 🙂 And if you feel like, you could bake a cake!
Move
There is nothing better than walking in the nature on a nice sunny day. I know we are in London, so the weather app may not show sunshine for the whole week so it is not always possible, but in that case – go to the gym. Even if you don’t have energy – just go. Once you there it may turn out that after doing one round of exercise you actually feel you can do the second or the third. You may feel like using this machine you haven’t used for ages and today you are pushing yourself like never before. Maybe you will feel like doing those stretches you never had time to do? You will never know what would happen in the gym until you are there. Your body may surprise you. You may feel like releasing all negativity by sweating.
Clean
I am not sure if it is the whole world, or it is just me, but if there is a mess around me, there will be a mess inside me. I need spaces around me to be de cluttered. I also highly recommend to get rid of the things you don’t use anymore, donate the clothes that you no longer wear. Make space in your drawers and wardrobes. Get rid of the old stuff. Did you know the items accumulate energy. By getting rid of them, you are getting rid of the old energy and you are making space for the new one.
First of all you will keep your mind busy. Maybe even for hours. And secondly, at the end of the process you will probably feel satisfaction and some kind of freedom. You will literally feel lighter!
Be creative
And when speaking about keeping mind busy…. can you be creative? Can you paint? Make music? Knit? Bake a cake? Build a bathroom cabinet? Paint the walls of your bedroom? Make a lamp out of coconut shells? Anything?
Try…..
It is an amazing feeling to look at something you did yourself.
