The National Massage Championship returns this October for its biggest year yet!

The National Massage Championship will be hosted for the fourth year at Olympia Beauty, autumn’s biggest beauty event! Taking place on Sunday 2 and Monday 3 October 2022 at Olympia London, this year is set to be its biggest yet!

In October 2021, the first year back since 2019 due to the impacts of Covid-19, The National Massage Championship shone! It was the star of the show, welcoming 47 competitors across 66 places in 6 categories, and over the course of the two day event awarded 14 medals and 1 Judges Excellence Award to overall winner Slav Marinov.

2021 Winner Slav Marinov

2021 also saw Head Judge Emma Gilmore take the lead for the first time, accompanied by a panel of 8 fantastic industry-leading judges and one guest judge, the winner of our 2019 competition Kate Browne.

The National Massage Championship (The NMC) 2022 is now live and planning for the event is well underway. The competition is organised in partnership with Carl Newbury from Massage World Magazine and Kate Tora of Citylux Massage, and their expertise and years of industry knowledge has shaped and directed the competition since its inception.

The competition will take place on the Gallery Level of the beautiful Grand Hall at Olympia London, providing the competition with its own arena, alongside other global competitions like Nailympia London and The Lash Games.

2022 will see some fantastic new additions! The NMC is hosting some brand new competition categories including Clinical Massage and Massage With Tools, to support a wider range of massage styles and skills. Though The NMC was created for massage therapists living in the UK, both the Advanced and Freestyle categories will also be available for the first time to international competitors!

Kate Tora of Citylux Massage has this to say about the competition and what it really achieves:

“It is a lot more than just a competition. The NMC is an opportunity for the professional massage industry to come together, support each other, learn, experience incredible community spirit and create amazing friendships with likeminded therapists from all over the world.”

Olympia Beauty Show Director, Ian Archbold, has worked in the beauty industry for over twenty-five years and also believes in the competition and what it has achieved over the past five years:

“When The NMC was launched, the vision and mission was to work with the best in industry to deliver the UK’s first ever Massage Championship with a globally recognised set of rules, standards & benchmarks. Now, 5 years later, I truly believe we have one of the world’s best massage competitions with those rules and guidelines that are globally recognised and used by other competitions – roll on 2022.”

The NMC team looks forward to welcoming all beauty therapists to the competition floor and a weekend they’ll never forget!
